Every year as winter turns toward spring, I notice the same thing happen with my skin.
My routine starts to get simpler.
What may have been four products during the colder months slowly drops to three… and by summer I’m often down to just one or two.
Not because I’m doing less for my skin — but because my skin simply doesn’t need as much.
This is something we don’t talk about enough in skincare.
For years the beauty industry has convinced us that better skin requires more steps. More serums. More actives. More layers.
But skin isn’t designed to process constant stimulation.
Healthy skin thrives on consistency, balance, and barrier support — not overwhelm.
When too many products are layered together, the skin often responds with the very things we’re trying to avoid: dryness, breakouts, redness, or sensitivity.
And this time of year — as we move from winter into spring — is a natural moment to simplify.
Winter often leaves skin feeling depleted and in need of support. But as temperatures warm and humidity slowly rises, the skin’s needs begin to shift.
Instead of adding more, it can be helpful to listen to your skin and adjust gently.
How does your skin feel?
Balanced?
Comfortable?
Hydrated?
Or a little overwhelmed?
Often the most supportive approach is returning to a few well-chosen products that work with the skin instead of pushing it.
One of my personal favorites for this kind of seasonal transition is our Dandelion + Calendula Skin Oil.
It’s a true multi-tasker.
Calendula has long been valued for its calming, barrier-supportive properties, while dandelion is rich in antioxidants that help support skin vitality.
Together they create a formula that:
• nourishes and softens
• supports the skin barrier
• helps calm visible irritation
• works beautifully as both a cleanser and treatment oil
It’s simple, effective, and adaptable — which is exactly what skin often needs during seasonal transitions.
Because skincare doesn’t need to be complicated to work well.
Sometimes the best thing we can do is step back, simplify, and let the skin return to balance.
That’s what beauty that comes back to its roots looks like.
