Eco Printing is the use of natural materials to leave two dimensional impressions of organic flora on media. Through the use of pressure and heat we can preserve and transfer the veining of leaves, soothing colors of petals and stems that create color-rich collages locking the beauty of the world around us into cloth.  In this two-part workshop we will learn the basics of the art form and learn how to use pre-prepared materials to eco-print onto prepared fabric to create “memory in cloth,” and while our prints steam students will learn how to use cyanotype,  a manual photographic printing process, to capture a floral composition. This process, used for almost 200 years to capture images using sunlight and a photosensitive solution, creates original prints with definition and an intense shade of blue. In this class we’ll work with organic materials foraged from the meadow to create botanical-based compositions.
